fun times
Dear Blog,
So much has happened since we arrived in San Francisco. We finalized our Green for All direction. The Levis shop has welcomed us and our fascination with placing large pieces of furniture on the copier to see "what happens." And Craig Newmark gave us some tips as to where to get a good deal on a béret.
As for the family, we've been seeing a lot of reminders of home, but chad thinks he's from LA now. Other than that everything has been really positive. Scott started smiling again. Sam's been working out. And Rod's grown himself a respectable mustache. David and Alex will be here soon. As for me, well, there haven't been any photos of me uploaded yet, but i'm here too.

Cantankerous Hellfighter
at The Family Room
1821 W Hubbard St. # 202
Thursday July 15th from 7pm-11pmJoin us TONIGHT to celebrate the work of two of the longest names in poster art, Delicious Design League and Aesthetic Apparatus, as they join forces to create Cantankerous Hellfighter – a collection of collaborative prints, paper toys, apparel and test prints. Only one rule applies: NO GIG POSTERS!
Both design studios share similar histories and paths to glory. For example, both shops were started by two heterosexual life mates living together and running a shop out of their basements; both utilize original and found content in their design in unique and novel ways; both give better hugs than handshakes.
Please come and enjoy Cantankerous Hellfighter, another show exploiting The Post Family's continued fascination with the space between form and function.

Music From the Practice Studio
Kyle Obriot and his crew have been keeping us all in the loop of what some of Chicago's best music talent has been up to...
"Giant system Chicago's purpose is to make motion pictures of bands playing their music in their spaces. Each episode is shot live in a practice space as means to combine the spontaneity of a stage performance with the control of a music video."

Cantankerous Hellfighter | Flatstock/Pitchfork | Off to San Fransico
We've got a busy couple weeks coming up, and we're pretty freakin' thrilled to be working with all of these great organizations and people...
After we wrap up Cantankerous Hellfighter this Thursday, (July 15th, 7p-11p; feel free to stop by) we're sending Harry Freedom & Dancy Pants to the 2010 Pitchfork Music Festival/Fatstock 26 to talk with few of our favorite musicians, printers and even a couple of comedians.
After that, we're all headed out to San Fransisco for the week to work in the Levi's Workshop with Craig Newmark and the fine folks over at Green For All. If you're in the bay area and want to get in touch with us (please do) we'll be there between July 18th–26th or stop by the workshop, and stay tuned for updates as well as a calendar of events to be mentioned here in the community section.

Visualization by Eric Fischer
Some people interpreted the Geotaggers' World Atlas maps to be maps of tourism. This setis an attempt to figure out if that is really true. Some cities (for example Las Vegas and Venice) do seem to be photographed almost entirely by tourists. Others seem to have many pictures taken in piaces that tourists don't visit.
Blue points on the map are pictures taken by locals (people who have taken pictures in this city dated over a range of a month or more).
Red points are pictures taken by tourists (people who seem to be a local of a different city and who took pictures in this city for less than a month).
Yellow points are pictures where it can't be determined whether or not the photographer was a tourist (because they haven't taken pictures anywhere for over a month). They are probably tourists but might just not post many pictures at all.
The maps are ordered by the number of pictures taken by locals.

Textile Sculpture
Haunting beauty.
"I create simple and theatrical structures that generate interplay between the effect of gravity, tension and movement, using cloth and other readily available building materials..." - Katy Heinlein
