    Cantankerous Hellfighter

    Thursday July 15th from 7pm-11pm
    at The Family Room
    1821 W Hubbard St. # 202

Join us pre-Pitchfork/Flatstock to celebrate the work of two of the longest names in poster art, Delicious Design League and Aesthetic Apparatus, as they join forces to create Cantankerous Hellfighter – a collection of collaborative prints, paper toys, apparel and test prints. Only one rule applies: NO GIG POSTERS!

Both design studios share similar histories and paths to glory. For example, both shops were started by two heterosexual life mates living together and running a shop out of their basements; both utilize original and found content in their design in unique and novel ways; both give better hugs than handshakes.

Please come and enjoy Cantankerous Hellfighter, another show exploiting The Post Family’s continued fascination with the space between form and function.

We’re creating an online gallery of imagery and work related to the current crisis in the gulf.

Send us your work—be it smart, witty and sophisticated or heavy-handed, blunt and angry—so we can pool it together. We’re not asking you to bash BP—most would say we’ve all played a hand in this mess. But tell the world what’s on your mind in the best way that artists and designers know how.

    Ryan Duggan

    Studio Tour #009

A while back Ben Speckmann stopped by Ryan Duggan's studio to shot some pictures. I'm finally getting around to putting them up and it's about time. Especially because Ryan in one of my favorite people and artists here in Chicago. You heard it here first, Ryan's name is going to be on everyone's tongue in a few years. Equal parts craftsmanship, humor and midwestern humbleness... I give to you... Ryan Duggan!

Oh, I almost forgot. Join Ryan at The Beerics @ 9pm this Saturday (August 21st, 2010) for Hated Skateboard's Summer Ender-Bender. Unfortunately we are not allowed to post the address so you will have to be a little crafty if you want to go but it will be worth it! Flier after the jump.

    Final MVSEVM Opening

    July 10th, 2010

If you haven't visited one of the most talked about apartment galleries in Chicago, July 10th is your last chance. Swing by Mvsevm this saturday for their final opening.

"Chicago, IL (July 3, 2010) – For Mvsevm’s final exhibition we present new work by the directors as a farewell to Chicago and also as a formal addendum to previous exhibition curation strategies. Exhibition 8.07102010 will feature work in a broad range of mediums – from large scale sculpture to drawing to sound and more – all of which investigate the contours of constantly changing material production. Through the use of found and appropriated objects, we exploit a fascination at an industry of production constantly in flux. Exhibition 8.07102010 is a cabinet of curiosity that seeks to illuminate the vulgarity of the new."

Opening reception on Saturday, July 10 from 6:00-10:00pm at MVSEVM, 1626 N. California ave. #2 Chicago, IL 60647
