Cantankerous Hellfighter
Thursday July 15th from 7pm-11pm
at The Family Room
1821 W Hubbard St. # 202
Join us pre-Pitchfork/Flatstock to celebrate the work of two of the longest names in poster art, Delicious Design League and Aesthetic Apparatus, as they join forces to create Cantankerous Hellfighter – a collection of collaborative prints, paper toys, apparel and test prints. Only one rule applies: NO GIG POSTERS!
Both design studios share similar histories and paths to glory. For example, both shops were started by two heterosexual life mates living together and running a shop out of their basements; both utilize original and found content in their design in unique and novel ways; both give better hugs than handshakes.
Please come and enjoy Cantankerous Hellfighter, another show exploiting The Post Family’s continued fascination with the space between form and function.

Join us as we delve into human nature in relation to the natural environment; our inherent connection as animals dependent on the Earth for survival and the disconnection created by technology, self & society.
Show continues through July 9, 2010
We’re creating an online gallery of imagery and work related to the current crisis in the gulf.
Send us your work—be it smart, witty and sophisticated or heavy-handed, blunt and angry—so we can pool it together. We’re not asking you to bash BP—most would say we’ve all played a hand in this mess. But tell the world what’s on your mind in the best way that artists and designers know how.

Michael T Rea was kind enough to invite Ben Speckmann and I over to his studio to chat about sharp objects and old style. If you want larger images check the flickr set.

Studio Tour #006 - Will Bryant
The beautiful man you see pictured above is Will Bryant. He is magnificent. Sam and I were lucky enough to meet Will when we were down at SXSW and we hit if off. Unfortunately, we got to his place after dark so the photos are not the most beautiful things you have ever seen but the interview makes up for it. Anyway… let’s cut to the chase. Y’all ready? I now present to you Sir William “Fancy Pants” Byant.
This Is God's Love

Art Interview #001 - Richard Colman
One of my favorites, Richard Colman, was in town recently and I had the pleasure of meeting him. I talked too much. We agreed on some things. The result of all of it is this interview. Mr. Colman has a show up at Phaiz here in Chicago until the end of March. Read the interview and then peep the show. It is worth it.
Studio Tour #003 - Aesthetic Apparatus
Here we are! A little late on our part but better late than never. Drum rollllllll. BANG! Studio Tour #3 – Aesthetic Apparatus. Let’s get it on!
Studio Tour #002 - Studio On Fire
While we were up in Minneapolis for the Typeface sneak preview, we met Ben and the crew from Studio On Fire – a really wicked letterpress shop out of the Twin Cities. They were kind enough to make time for us to stop by, snap some shots and ask a few questions.

This month we hook up with our good friends Delicious Design League. A screen printing, illustration and design crew out of Chicago.
