Alex Lukas Offset Lithograph
April 30, 2012
We at The Family have been huge fans of Alex Lukas ever since meeting him while doing a studio tour of Space1026 in Philadelphia way back in '09. Since then, Lukas has moved on and has become a strong voice in the contemporary art landscape with back to back solo shows at Guerrero Gallery in 2010 and 2011, a recently released artist zine published by Megawords and many group exhibitions around the U.S. But by far my favorite work of his (other than this beauty from a past Guerrero show) is his new 8 color Offset Lithograph. Mimicking his process from past one-of-a-kind works featuring screenprinted book pages depicting flooded and decaying American cities, this piece is a straight up jaw-dropper, with tons of documentation photos to boot. If you are the kind of person that buys a bunch of little art throughout the year, I would highly recommend picking up one of these prints before they are gone and passing up a few other smaller acquisitions this year. It will be worth it, I promise.
